Oraș Iluminat: Locuri Incerte – laborator de fotografie experimentală cu participarea fotografilor Ramin Mazur [MD] și Ruben Hollinger [CH], cu scopul de a elabora o cercetare artistică la tema Periferiei.

Chișinău: 2 – 21 septembrie 2021

În acest an, vom căuta noi fire narative și noi forme pentru a crea un discurs la tema urbană și despre schimbările prin care trece orașul, dar și despre felul în care vrem noi să-l vedem. În ultimele câteva decenii, Chișinăul s-a transformat rapid ca urmare a schimbărilor politice și economice de după destrămarea Uniunii Sovietice. Însă este dificil de a investiga aceste transformări din cauza proceselor de lungă durată caracteristice perioadei de tranziție. Orașul, care era odată un loc cunoscut, a devenit un loc străin ce își pierde treptat esența și se lasă „citit” și înțeles cu greu. Fiind capitala unui stat de la periferie în contextul URSS, dar și în relație cu Uniunea Europeană, orașul își păstrează simbolurile caracteristice ambelor perioade, înscrise pe diferite straturi. Pentru a ne învăța să citim orașul într-un mod diferit, va trebui să „disecăm” aceste straturi și să căutăm „noi sensuri”, chiar dacă se pare greu de le înțeles și de orientat printre ele.

În cadrul laboratorului de fotografie, ne propunem să creăm o atmosferă informală, unde să putem face schimb între ideile și proiectele noastre. Va fi un loc pentru experimente, și nu un laborator de fotografie unde cunoștințele se transmit de sus în jos și ideile sunt aprobate în același fel. Pornind de la întrebările noastre individuale și colective, care ne vor ghida spre crearea conținutului, vedem acest laborator ca pe un proces deschis cu rezultate neprevăzute și nu neapărat în cadrul prestabilit al cercetării noastre artistice.

Laboratorul va include 4 etape de bază, de-a lungul a 3 săptămâni, dar nu neapărat în ordinea care urmează: partea teoretică, lucru în teren, materializarea proiectelor, evaluarea. Participarea la toate aceste etape va avea rol crucial pentru evaluarea anumitor etape.

Ramin Mazur [MD], născut pe malul stâng al Nistrului în Republica Sovietică Moldovenească care, după 1991, a devenit statul nerecunoscut Transnistria. A finalizat facultatea de jurnalism la Universitatea de Stat la Chișinău și a început să lucreze cu diverse redacții din țară în calitate de fotoreporter. Lipsa de apreciere a fotojurnalismului în media locală l-au impulsionat să lucreze la proiecte și serii individuale. După participarea la Bursa Fundației Magnum „Dreptul uman și fotografia”, s-a axat în mare parte pe „storytelling” (povestire), bazată pe observații asupra realității din țara sa și țările vecine, aflate în tranziție. Ruben Hollinger [CH] (*1987, Basel) exploră, prin căi jucăușe și cercetări artistice, mediul ce-l înconjoară în apropiere sau în depărtare și oamenii care creează locul. De asemenea, lucrează în calitate de fotograf de editorial freelance. În ce privește educația, s-a expus spălării de creier la Universitatea din Berna (științele sportului) cu un semestru la AMTAP la Chișinău. Este reprezentat de o agenție foto de top din Elveția, „13photo”, și este membru al asociației elvețiene independente pentru fotografie contemporană. Locuiește, lucrează și joacă în Berna.

Город в Cвете: Места Неопределенности – экспериментальная фотолаборатория с участием фотографов Рамина Мазура [MD] и Рубена Холлингера [CH], целью которой является художественное исследование темы Периферии.

Кишинев: 2 – 21 сентября 2021

В течение этого года мы будем открывать для себя новые нарративы и формы для создания дискурса о городе и о том, как он трансформируется, а также о том, каким мы хотим его видеть. В течение последних нескольких десятилетий Кишинев быстро менялся вслед за политическими и экономическими изменениями, которые произошли после распада Советского Союза. Однако отследить эти изменения становится непросто из-за длительных процессов, характерных для переходного периода, поэтому город, который когда-то ощущался узнаваемым местом, становится отчужденным пространством, которое частично теряет свой смысл и его довольно сложно «прочитать» и понять. Как столица периферийного государства, как в контексте СССР, так и в отношении Европейского Союза, он сохраняет символы, характерные для обоих периодов, вписанные в разные его слои. Чтобы научиться читать город по-другому, нам придется разрезать эти слои и извлекать из них «новые значения», даже если кажется, что трудно понять и сориентироваться среди них.

Во время лаборатории мы хотим создать неформальную атмосферу, в которой мы можем обмениваться и продвигать наши идеи и проекты. Это место для экспериментов, а не фотостудия, где знания передаются сверху вниз, а идеи утверждаются таким же образом. Начиная с наших индивидуальных или коллективных вопросов, ведущих к созданию контента, мы рассматриваем эту лабораторию как открытый процесс с непредсказуемыми результатами, и не обязательно в фиксированных рамках нашего художественного исследования

Лаборатория будет включать 4 основных этапа, которые мы разработаем в течение 3 недель, но не обязательно в этом конкретном порядке: теоретическая часть, полевые работы, материализация проектов и их оценка. Участие во всех этих этапах имеет решающее значение для оценки различных этапов.

Рамин Мазур [MD], родился на левом берегу р. Днестр в Молдавской Советской Республике, которая после 1991 года стала непризнанным государством Приднестровье. Окончив факультет журналистики Молдавского государственного университета в Кишиневе, он стал работать с различными печатными изданиями в его стране в качестве фоторепортера. Недостаток понимания и оценивания фотожурналистики в местных СМИ побудили его начать работу над независимыми проектами. City in Spotlight: Places of Uncertainty – experimental photo lab with photographers Ramin Mazur [MD] and Ruben Hollinger [CH], aiming to produce an artistic research on the topic of Periphery.

Chisinau: September 2-21, 2021

During this year we will discover new narratives and forms to create discourses about the city and the way in which it transforms as well as the way we want it to be. Chisinau has been changing rapidly during the last few decades, following the political and economical changes that took place after the fall of the Soviet Union. However, it’s not easy to track the changes due to the long lasting processes specific for the transition period, therefore the city that once felt as a recognizable place becomes an alienated space that partially loses its meanings and is rather difficult to ”read” and understand. As a capital of a peripheral state, both in the context of USSR and in relation to the European Union, it preserves symbols representative for both periods, inscribed in its different layers. In order to learn how to read the city differently, we will have to dissect those layers and extract “new meanings” from them, even if it seems to be hard to comprehend and orient ourselves among them.

During the lab we would like to create a familiar atmosphere in order to mutually exchange ideas and push our projects – a place for experimentation rather than a photography studio where the knowledge is being delivered top down while the ideas are being approved in the same way. Starting from our individual or collective questions leading to the production of the content, we see this laboratory as an open-end process with unpredictable results, and not necessarily as a fixed frame for our artistic research.

The lab will include 4 main phases that we will develop during 3 weeks, but not necessary in this particular order: a theoretical part, field work, materialization of the projects and the evaluation phase. Participation in all of these phases is crucial in order for the different steps to be evaluated.

Ramin Mazur [MD], born on the left bank of r.Dniester in the Moldavian Soviet Republic, which became an unrecognized state of Transnistria after 1991. Graduating from the Journalism Department of Moldavian State University in Chisinau he became to work with different print outlets in his country as a photo reporter. The lack of understanding and appreciating the photojournalism in local media led him to start working on independent projects and series. Ruben Hollinger [CH] (*1987, Basel) explores in playful undertakings and artistic researches his near and far surrounding and the people who are shaping it. He also works as a freelance editorial photographer. In terms of education, he exposed himself to the brainwashing of the University of Berne (sports science), the professional school for design (photo design) and finally the Zurich University of the Arts (fine arts) with an intermezzo at AMTAP in Chişinău. He is represented by the leading photo agency in Switzerland 13photo and a member of the independent swiss association for contemporary photography nearby. He plays, works and lives in Bern.
